2nd Lamentations Modern Elegies for a Broken World
Now accepting submissions for an anthology of lament literature. We have forgotten how to mourn together. Send me your stories (both personal and fiction), poetry, essays, and black and white illustrations about your tears. Possible topics include death, illness, mental health issues, broken relationships, trauma, current events, etc. Happy endings are optional. All faith traditions (or lack thereof) are welcome. 2nd Lamentations is expected to enter publication in February or March of 2027.
Guidelines:
Submissions should be no longer than 1200 words.
If including a narrative, please indicate if it is fiction or real events.
I am open to pretty much any genre, including graphics, but keep in mind the final edition will be in black and white.
Submission deadline is September 30, 2026.
Submissions are accepted through email only. I prefer a PDF attachment, but I will also accept text pasted into the body of the email if necessary. Please email to 2ndlamentations@gmail.com
Include the title of your piece in the subject line.
Each story is precious, but unfortunately, due to space limitations, I will not be able to include them all. I will let each of you know if you are accepted in October or November.
